I was with the Prophet (ﷺ) in a Ghazwa (Military Expedition) and my camel was slow and exhausted. The Prophet came up to me and said, O Jabir. I replied, Yes? He said, What is the matter with you? I replied, My camel is slow and tired, so I am left behind. So, he got down and poked the camel with his stick and then ordered me to ride. I rode the camel and it became so fast that I had to hold it from going ahead of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . He then asked me, have you got married? I replied in the affirmative. He asked, A virgin or a matron? I replied, I married a matron. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, Why have you not married a virgin, so that you may play with her and she may play with you? Jabir replied, I have sisters (young in age) so I liked to marry a matron who could collect them all and comb their hair and look after them. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, You will reach, so when you have arrived (at home), I advise you to associate with your wife (that you may have an intelligent son). Then he asked me, Would you like to sell your camel? I replied in the affirmative and the Prophet (ﷺ) purchased it for one Uqiya of gold. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) reached before me and I reached in the morning, and when I went to the mosque, I found him at the door of the mosque. He asked me, Have you arrived just now? I replied in the affirmative. He said, Leave your camel and come into (the mosque) and pray two rak`at. I entered and offered the prayer. He told Bilal to weigh and give me one Uqiya of gold. So Bilal weighed for me fairly and I went away. The Prophet (ﷺ) sent for me and I thought that he would return to me my camel which I hated more than anything else. But the Prophet (ﷺ) said to me, Take your camel as well as its price.

D'après Wahb ibn Kaysân, Jâbir ibn 'Abd Allah (radiallahanho) dit: «J'étais avec le Prophète (salallahou alayhi wa sallam) dans une expédition. Mon chameau commença à se fatiguer et à ralentir. Le Prophète (salallahou alayhi wa sallam) vint alors vers moi et me dit: Estce Jâbir? — Oui, répondisje. — Qu'astu? — C'est mon chameau qui commence à ralentir et à se fatiguer, c'est pour cela que je suis en retard. Sur ce, le Prophète se mit à lui donner des coups avec son bâton crochu puis [me] dit: Monte! Je montai et aussitôt je me vis dans l'obligation de retenir mon chameau pour qu'il ne dépasse pas [celui du] Messager d'Allah (salallahou alayhi wa sallam) qui me dit: Tu t'es marié? — Oui, répondisje. — Estce une vierge ou une femme qui s'est déjà mariée auparavant? — Une femme qui s'est déjà mariée. — Et pourquoi tu ne t'es pas marié avec une vierge? Tu te serais amusé avec elle et elle se serait amusée avec toi. — C'est que j'ai des sœurs, et j'ai voulu épouser une femme qui les rassemble, les peigne et prenne soin d'elles. — Tu vas bientôt rentrer chez toi, à ton retour veilles à [remplir ton devoir conjuguai pour] avoir des enfants! . Après cela, il me dit: Veuxtu vendre ton chameau? — Oui, répondisje. Et il l'acheta de moi contre une 'uqiyya. Ensuite, le Messager d'Allah (salallahou alayhi wa sallam) arriva avant moi [à Médine], car je n'arrivai que le lendemain matin. Nous nous dirigeâmes vers la mosquée et je trouvai le Prophète à sa porte. Il me dit: Tu viens d'arriver? — Oui, répondisje. — Laisse ton chameau et rentre faire deux rak'a] Je rentrai et je priai. Après quoi, il donna l'ordre à Bilâl de me peser une 'uqiyya. En effet, ce dernier me fit une bonne mesure, puis, en me mettant en marche, le Prophète lui dit: Appellemoi Jâbir! Alors, je me dis: II va me rendre le chameau . C'est que c'était pour moi la chose la plus détestable. Mais il me dit: Prends ton chameau et avec lui son prix! »

':'Telah menceritakan kepada kami Muhammad bin Basysyar telah menceritakan kepada kami 'Abdul Wahhab telah menceritakan kepada kami 'Ubaidullah dari Wahab bin Kaisan dari Jabir bin 'Abdullah radliallahu 'anhu berkata: 'Aku pernah bersama Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam dalam suatu peperangan lalu untaku berjalan lambat hingga aku kelelahan. Kemudian Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam menemuiku'. Jabir berkata: Aku katakan kepada Beliau (setelah bertanya kepadaku): 'Iya'. Beliau bertanya: Apa sebabnya?' Aku katakan: 'Untaku berjalan sangat lambat hingga aku kelelahan dan tertinggal. Kemudian Beliau berhenti turun dan memukul untaku dengan tongkat Beliau lalu berkata: 'Kendarailah'. Maka aku mengendarainya. Sungguh aku melihat unta itu mengikuti Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam. Beliau bertanya kepadaku: 'Apakah kamu sudah menikah?' Aku jawab: 'Sudah'. Beliau bertanya lagi: 'Dengan seorang gadis atau janda?' Aku jawab: 'Janda'. Beliau berkata: 'Mengapa tidak dengan seorang gadis sehingga kamu dapat bersenda gurau dengannya dan dia bisa bersenda gurau denganmu'. Aku katakan: 'Sesungguhnya aku punya saudara-saudara perempuan. Aku ingin jika aku menikahi seorang wanita dia adalah orang yang akan tetap dapat menyatukan saudara-saudara perempuanku itu menyisir dan membimbing mereka'. Beliau berkata: 'Sungguh kamu sudah terlambat maka jika kamu bisa mendahului maka kamu akan menjadi orang yang hebat'. Kemudian Beliau berkata: 'Apakah kamu akan menjual untamu?' Aku jawab: 'Ya'. Maka Beliau membeli untaku dengan satu 'uqiyah lalu Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam tiba sebelum aku tiba aku tiba setelah tengah hari. Lalu kami datang ke masjid dan aku dapati Beliau di pintu masjid lalu Beliau berkata: 'Baru sekarang kamu tiba?' Aku jawab: 'Ya'. Maka beliau berkata: 'Biarkanlah untamu itu'. Maka Beliau masuk ke dalam masjid lalu shalat dua raka'at dan akupun masuk ke masjid lalu shalat. Kemudian Beliau memerintahkan Bilal untuk menimbang baginya satu 'uqiyah. Lalu Bilal menimbang satu 'uqiyah untukku dengan timbangan yang akurat. Kemudian aku pergi hingga berpaling meninggalkan Beliau. Kemudian Beliau berkata: 'Panggilah Jabir untuk menemuiku'. Aku katakan: Sekarang Beliau mengembalikan unta itu kepadaku padahal tidak ada yang lebih aku benci kecuali unta itu'. Beliau berkata: 'Ambillah untamu dan harga jaulnya tetap buatmu'.'
