Ibn `Umar said, While the Prophet (ﷺ) was on the pulpit, a man asked him how to offer the night prayers. He replied, 'Pray two rak`at at a time and then two and then two and so on, and if you are afraid of the dawn (the approach of the time of the Fajr prayer) pray one rak`a and that will be the witr for all the rak`at which you have offered. Ibn `Umar said, The last rak`at of the night prayer should be odd, for the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered it to be so.

0472 Ibn Umar : Un homme interrogea le Prophète qui était alors sur le minbar : « Que dis-tu au sujet de la prière de nuit ? » « Elle se fait deux à deux ra’ka« , lui dit le prophète qui avait l’habitude de la (la prière de nuit) terminer avec une seule ra’ka au cas où il craignait l’arrivée de la prière du subh; et cette dernière ra’ka lui rendait impair le nombre des ra’ka qu’il avait faites pendant ladite prière. « Faites que votre dernière prière pendant la nuit ait un nombre impair de ra’ka. » Le Prophète recommanda cela.

':'Telah menceritakan kepada kami Musaddad berkata telah menceritakan kepada kami Bisyr bin Al Mufadldlal telah menceritakan kepada kami 'Ubaidullah dari Nafi' dari 'Abdullah bin 'Umar berkata 'Seorang laki-laki bertanya kepada Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam yang pada saat itu sedang di atas mimbar 'Bagaimana cara shalat malam?' Beliau menjawab: 'Dua rakaat dua rakaat. Apabila dikhawatirkan masuk shubuh maka shalatlah satu rakaat sebagai witir (penutup) bagi shalatnya sebelumnya.' Ibnu 'Umar berkata 'Jadikanlah witir sebagai shalat terakhir kalian karena Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam memerintahkan hal yang demikian.''

A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) while he was delivering the sermon and asked him how to offer the night prayers. The Prophet (ﷺ) replied, 'Pray two rak`at at a time and then two and then two and so on and if you are afraid of dawn (the approach of the time of the Fajr prayer) pray one rak`a and that will be the witr for all the rak`at which you have prayed. Narrated 'Ubaidullah bin `Abdullah bin `Umar: A man called the Prophet (ﷺ) while he was in the mosque.

0473 Ibn Umar : Au moment où le prophète était en train de prononcer un sermon un homme vin l’interroger : « Comment doit-on faire la prière de nuit ? » « Deux à deux ra’ka, et si tu crains l’arrivée de la prière du subh fait une seule ra’ka qui te rendra impair le nombre des ra’ka que tu as faites !« , répondit le Prophète Al Walid ben Kathir : Ubayd-ul-Lâh ben Abd-ul-Lâh m’a rapporté qu’ibn Umar avait dit : Un homme appela le Prophète alors qu’il était dans la mosquée.

':'Telah menceritakan kepada kami Abu An Nu'man berkata telah menceritakan kepada kami Hammad bin Zaid dari Ayyub dari Nafi' dari Ibnu 'Umar berkata 'Seorang laki-laki datang kepada Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam saat beliau sedang berkhuthbah. Katanya 'Bagaimana cara shalat malam?' Beliau menjawab: 'Dua rakaat dua rakaat. Apabila dikhawatirkan masuk subuh maka shalatlah satu rakaat sebagai witir (penutup) bagi shalat yang telah kamu laksanakan sebelumnya.' Al Walid bin Katsir berkata telah menceritakan kepadaku 'Ubaidullah bin 'Abdullah bahwa Ibnu 'Umar menceritakan kepada mereka bahwa ada seseorang yang memanggil Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam saat beliau berada di masjid.''

While Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was sitting in the mosque (with some people) three men came, two of them came in front of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and the third one went away, and then one of them found a place in the circle and sat there while the second man sat behind the gathering, and the third one went away. When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) finished his preaching, he said, Shall I tell you about these three persons? One of them betook himself to Allah and so Allah accepted him and accommodated him; the second felt shy before Allah so Allah did the same for him and sheltered him in His Mercy (and did not punish him), while the third turned his face from Allah, and went away, so Allah turned His face from him likewise.

0474 Abu Waqid al-Laythy dit : Au moment où le Messager de Dieu était dans la mosquée arrivèrent trois hommes. Deux d’entre eux s’approchèrent et le troisième s’en alla. L’un des deux qui restèrent vit une place vide et l’occupa; l’autre s’assit derrière les présents. Quand le Messager de Dieu eut terminé son sermon, il dit : « Voulez-vous que je vous informe au sujet de ces trois individus ? Eh bien ! l’un à demander abri à Dieu et Dieu le lui a accordé. Le deuxième était pudique devant Dieu et Dieu s’est montré pudique envers lui. Quant au troisième, il s’est détourné… et Dieu s’est détourné de lui. »

':'Telah menceritakan kepada kami 'Abdullah bin Yusuf berkata telah mengabarkan kepada kami Malik dari Ishaq bin 'Abdullah bin Abu Thalhah bahwa Abu Murrah mantan budak 'Uqail bin Abu Thalib mengabarkan kepadanya dari Abu Waqid Al Laitsi berkata 'Ketika Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam berada di masjid maka datanglah tiga orang laki-laki. Dua orang menghadap Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam dan seorang lagi pergi. Satu di antara dua orang ini nampak berbahagia bermajelis bersama Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam sedang yang satu lagi duduk di belakang mereka. Setelah Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam selesai (menyampaikan pengajaran) beliau bersabda: 'Maukah kalian aku beritahu tentang ketiga orang tadi? Adapun seorang di antara mereka dia meminta perlindungan kepada Allah maka Allah lindungi dia. Yang kedua dia malu kepada Allah maka Allah pun malu kepadanya. Sedangkan yang ketiga berpaling dari Allah maka Allah pun berpaling darinya.''
