Hadith 1160 - Bab 212 (Excellence of Standing in Prayer at Night)
Chapter 9 (The Book of Virtues)

'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Prophet (Peace be upon him) kept standing (in prayer) so long that the skin of his feet would crack. I asked him: "Why do you do this, while you have been forgiven of your former and latter sins?" He said, "Should I not be a grateful slave of Allah?"

"Âisha (das) a dit: «Le Prophète (bsdl) veillait tellement dans la nuit que la peau de ses pieds se fendilla. Je lui dis: «Pourquoi fais-tu cela? O Messager de Dieu! Alors que Dieu t"a effectivement absous de tous tes péchés passés et à venir». Il dit: «Est-ce qu"il ne m"appartient pas de me comporter en homme reconnaissant?» (ura)

'Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (Peace be upon him) visited me and Fatimah (May Allah be pleased with her) one night and said, "Do you not observe prayer (at night)?"

Selon "Ali (das), le Prophète (bsdl) vint leur rendre visite la nuit, lui et Fatima (son épouse et la fille du Prophète). Il leur dit: «Pourquoi donc ne priez-vous pas?» (ura)

Salim bin 'Abdullah bin 'Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with them) reported, on the authority of his father, that the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said, "What an excellent man 'Abdullah is! If only he could perform optional prayers at night." Salim said that after this, (his father) 'Abdullah slept very little at night.

Sâlem, le fils de "Abdullâh Ibn "Omar (das), rapporte que, d"après son père, le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) a dit: «Quel homme bon que Abdullàh si du moins il priait une partie de la nuit!» Sàlem dit: «Depuis cette remarque, "Abdullâh ne dormait plus que peu dans la nuit».

'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-'As (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said to me, "Do not be like so-and-so O 'Abdullah! He used to pray during the night, then stopped the practice."

Selon "Abdullàh Ibn "Amr Ibn Al "As (das), le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) a dit: «O "Abdullàh! Ne sois pas comme untel qui veillait dans la nuit (en prière) puis a abandonné cette pratique».

'Abdullah bin Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Mention was made before the Prophet (Peace be upon him) of a man who slept throughout the night till morning. The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) remarked, "He is a man in whose ears Satan urinated."

Ibn Mas"ùd (das) rapporte: «On a parlé au Prophète (bsdl) de quelqu"un qui s"était endormi une nuit jusqu"au matin». Il dit: «Voilà un homme dans les oreilles duquel le Diable a uriné».

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said, "When any one of you sleeps, Satan ties three knots at the back of his neck. He recites this incantation at every knot: 'You have a long night, so sleep.' If he awakes and remembers Allah, one knot is loosened. If he performs Wudu', the (second) knot is loosened; and if he performs prayer, (all) knots are loosened. He begins his morning in a happy and refreshed mood; otherwise, he gets up in bad spirits and sluggish state."

Selon Abou Hourayra (das), le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) a dit: «Quand l"un de vous s"endort, le Diable fait trois nœuds derrière sa tête en disant sur chacun d"eux: «Que ta nuit soit longue! Dors!» S"il se réveille entre temps et évoque Dieu exalté, l"un de ces nœuds se délie. S"il fait ses ablutions, le deuxième nœud se délie. Et s"il prie, les trois nœuds se délient tous. Ainsi il se réveille plein d"énergie et l"haleine bien odorante; sinon son haleine sent mauvais et il est plein de paresse».

'Abdullah bin Salam (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, "O people, promote the greetings, feed (the poor and needy) and perform Salat when others are asleep so that you will enter Jannah safely."

[At-Tirmidhi].

Selon "Abdullàh Ibn Salàm (das), le Prophète (bsdl) a dit: «O gens! Saluez les autres, donnez à manger et priez quand les autres dorment et vous enterrerez alors au Paradis sans aucun dommage». (Rapporté par Attirmidhi)

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said, "The best month for observing Saum (fasting) after Ramadan is Muharram, and the best Salat after the prescribed Salat is Salat at night."

[Muslim].

Selon Abou Hourayra (das), le Messager de Dieu (bsdl) a dit: «Le meilleur jeûne après celui de Ramadan est celui du mois de Dieu «Mouharram». La meilleure prière après les prières obligatoires est celle de la nuit. (Rapporté par Moslem)

Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, "Salat during the night should consist of pairs of but if you fear that morning is near, then pray one Rak'ah as Witr."

Selon Ibn "Ornas (das), le Prophète (bsdl) a dit: «Quand vous priez la nuit faites vos unités de prière deux par deux. Dès que vous craignez l"arrivée de l"aube, clôturez par une seule unité de prière».
